Sharon's Story

Art therapy at C4’s community mental health centers helped Sharon heal the pain of childhood sexual abuse. She shared her journey from victim to survivor in a one-woman show at Uptown’s Images Gallery.

Sharon’s memories of childhood incest were too painful to put into words. Art therapy at C4 allowed Sharon to express herself in chalk, paint and sculpture.

Trees figure prominently in Sharon’s art. Like the “support system” she found at C4, Sharon said, “You can lean on trees, and they will protect you.”

Sharon displayed more than 10 years of artwork in her solo show at Images Gallery.
