Jim's Story

Jim broke the cycle of drug addiction thanks to C4’s Recovery Point. C4’s counselors helped Jim rebuild his life, one step at a time, after nearly 20 years of drug addiction.

“C4 helped me get my life back,” Jim says. C4’s counselors remained committed to Jim’s recovery even when he lapsed back into old behaviors.

Now Jim volunteers at an Alano Club to support others’ recovery from drug addiction.

Ed's Story

Ed hadn’t seen his daughter since she was a newborn. C4’s parenting classes helped Ed put his anger with his daughter’s mother aside to enjoy his newly won visitation rights.

When he saw his 8-year-old for the first time, Ed remembered the advice he got from parents and professionals at C4. He smiled and said, “Hello.”

Ed says, “Without C4, I would not have my daughter back in my life.”

Doug's Story

Doug still hears voices. But C4’s mental health services help him stay calm and manage his mental health problems.

Doug uses C4’s community mental health services including counseling and case management. He also attends yoga class, journaling class and vocational training at C4.

Linda's Story

While hiking the Appalachian Trail as a teen-ager, Linda and three friends was viciously gang raped, beaten, and left for dead. After the horrific attack, it was the silence that brutalized her the most.

“Our testimony was on the front page every day, yet no one acknowledged that it happened,” recalls Linda. “The silence said, ‘You don’t matter.’”

“I came to a parenting class thinking I really didn’t need it. I came in order that my partner would come as well, because he really needed this information, not me. So imagine my surprise when I realized that this class was apparently developed for me personally. Sharon's Story

Sharon’s memories of childhood incest were too painful to put into words. Art therapy at C4 allowed Sharon to express herself in chalk, paint and sculpture.

Trees figure prominently in Sharon’s art. Like the “support system” she found at C4, Sharon said, “You can lean on trees, and they will protect you.”

Sharon displayed more than 10 years of artwork in her solo show at Images Gallery.
